Westminister- The Trojans (4-1) and the Bayou
Bandits (4-0) face off this Saturaday in a non
conference show down. The Trojans bring in a 4-1
record, coming off of a 4-2 win over the White Sox.
The Trojans only loss come by the way of Del Corp,
in a highly offensive game, 14-13. The Bandits
recently defeated the Brewers 4-2, looking to keep
their record undefeated. The Trojans come in
hitting .299 as a team, first in the league,
followed by the Bandits at .296. The Trojans have
doubled the Bandits runs in the year with 56 vs the
Bandits 27. Marus Duhon leads the way at the plate
for the Trojans, hitting .556 (10-18) with 9 runs.
Duhon is currently ranked #1 on offense in the
MVP Ranking
system. Chris Dumatrait (.500) and Thomas Darbonne
(.455, 5-11)lead the way for the Bandits, while Joey
Caillier leads the team in hits with 6. On the other
end of the stats, the Bandits bring in the top
pitching in the league, with a 2.00 team ERA, and
are 2nd in strikeouts with 50. The Trojans bring in
a 4.62 ERA, ranking #4. Jeremy Whipple and Josh
Smith lead the way on the mound for the Bandits,
each with a 1.00 era. Whipple comes in ranked #1 in
the
AABL MVP Rankings.
Newcomer for the Trojans, Brad Hamilton, has proved
to be a workhorse on the mound, pitching 20+
innings, striking out 25 with a 2.18 era.

The Bandits continue their
winning ways with a 14-4 victory over the Red Sox.
Thomas Darbonne received his first win on the mound
coming in relief of starter Derek Melancon.
Darbonned pitched 2 innings, allowed 1 run on 3 hits
and struck out 2. Chris Dumatrait led the
Bandits 17 hit attack going 3-4 with 2 runs and 1
rbi. Melancon, Darbonne, and Joey Caillier all
hit triples in the 2nd inning. Rookie Tyler
Keowen closed the game, pitching 2 innings, allowing
1 hit while striking out 4.
Josh Smith pitches 6 innings in relief to get the
win
Fabacher - It took 11 innings for the Bandits to get
their 2nd straight win in as many games. Del
Corp veteran Ryan Valyan threw a complete game
shutting down the Bandits for 10 innings.
Jeremy Whipple pitched 5 shutout innings before
reliever Josh Smith took over. Up 1-0 with 2 outs in
the bottom of the 9th, Del Corp was able to put
together 1 run to send the game into extra innings.
In the 10th, both teams were shut down. With a
fatiqued Valyan on the mound, the Bandits rallied
for 4 runs to capture the victory. Whipple
pitched 5 innings, 0 hits, 0 runs with 5 strikeouts.
Smith closed the game going 6 innings, allowed 1
run, on 3 hits while striking out 6.

Bandits Open 2009 Season With 4-2 Win Over Brewers

Fabacher - One thing the Bandits have struggled to
do in the past 2 years in the AABL, win their
opening game. Jeremy Whipple (1-0) started the
season off to a good start pitching 7 shutout
innings, allowing 2 hits and striking out 15
Brewers. The Brewers fought to a 4-2 deficit in the
8th inning off of reliever Trase Guidry. Derek
Melancon closed the game in the 9th inning to pick
up his first save. The Bandits were led at the plate
by Joey Caillier (3-3, 1 rbi, 1 run, HR) and Jeremy
Whipple (2-4, 1 rbi, 2b). Daniel Horton took the
loss for the Brewers pitching 4 innings, allowing 4
runs on 4 hits. Tyler Stutes threw 5 innings
shutting down the Bandits.
Houston, TX- Members of the AABL
will play in the 2008 Texas Cup in Houston this
Labor Day Weekend. The 15 man squad will feature
players from the Red Sox, Bayou Bandits, Brewers,
Tar Heels, and Del Corp. The Acadiana Cajuns will
play 4 pool play games on Saturday and Sunday, with
the playoffs on Monday. Pitchers from the league
include Jeremy Whipple (BAN), Ryan Vaylan (DEL),
Blaine Serio (TRO), and Jesse Aucoin (BRE). The
Cajuns added Jeremy Johnson (RHP) and Jeff Prejean (RHP)
to the pitching rotation. The Cajuns will play 2
games on Saturday, 9:00 am vs the Dallas Jaguares
(Houston Baptist University) and 1:00 am vs Austin
Mudcats (Alvin CC). The Mudcats feature former MLB
pitcher Brad Hasley and former college players.
Sunday, the Cajuns face off against the Austin
Capitals
at 12:30 pm, and a 4:00 pm round up against the
Dallas Modoc, both games at Alvin CC.

Win Their 6th Straight AABL Title
Fabacher - The Bayou Bandits shut
out the Tar Heels 6-0 in Game 3 of the Championship
series to capture their 6th crown in their 9 seasons
in the AABL. Brent Solich (5-0) pitched a stellar
complete game shutout, allowing 4 hits and striking
out 9. Solich also led the way at the plate with a
3-4 performace, scoring 3 runs, and hitting a double
and a triple. Logan Lasseigne also went 3-4 with a
HR and 3 rbi's. The Bandits jumped up 2-0 after the
first inning, scored 1 run in the 4th, and 3 runs in
the 6th. Tar heels Wesley Pellerin suffered the
loss pitching 7 innings, allowing 6 runs, 5 earned,
9 hits, and struck out 10.
The
Bayou Bandits Brent Solich was named the 2008 AABL
Championship MVP. In the 3 game series, Solich
pitched 2 complete games. Solich allowed 2 runs in
18 innings, 1 earned, struck out 21 batters and only
allowed 11 hits.
Offensively, Solich went 5-8 (.625) with 5 runs, 1
rbi, (2) doubles, triple, 3 BB, with a .727 (8-11)
on base percentage.

The Bandits (12-4) rolled to a
13-2 victory over the Wings in the first round of
the playoffs to advance to the AABL Championship.
Brent Solich (2-0) got his 2nd win on the year
pitching 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits while
striking out 7. Jeremy Whipple closed the game
facing 3 batters, striking out 2. At the
plate, the Bandits combined for 12 hits. Matt
Bellard led the way going 3-4 with a double, 1 run
and 1 rbi. Solich added a base clearing 3 rbi
triple.
The Bandits now face the Tar Heels (8-7) in the best
2 out of 3 championship series starting Sunday,
August 3rd.
The Tar Heels defeated Del Corp 8-3 to advance to
the championship.
The Bandits (9-4) won a must win
game to pass division rivals Brewers (8-4-1) in the
standings. The Bandits defeated the Brewers
15-3 in 8 innings. Jeremy Whipple got his 5th win on
the year, pitching 8 innings allowing 2 earned runs
and struck out a season high 14. Younger brother
Travis Whipple saw his first action on the mound
closing the game, facing 3 batters, striking out 1.
Matt Bellard continued to stay hot at the plate,
going 4-4 with 6 rbi's. Bellard is 9-11 in his last
3 games.

over the weekend with an 18-3 win over the Trojans,
and a 3-1 victory over Del Corp.

The bats came alive as the Bandits combined for 14
hits in 28 at bats in 4 innings as the Bandits 15
run ruled the Trojans in 5. Jeremy Whipple and
Kyle Poirier both had 3 hits on the day, while
Travis Whipple added a 400' homerun to dead center.
Trase Guidry got the win on the mound going 5
innings, allowing 3 runs, 1 earned, on 5 hits and
striking out 7.

In a battle against the top team in the league,
Chris Dumatrait stepped up to the mound and shut
down the potent Del Corp offense. Dumatrait
pitched 5.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, 1
walk, and struck out 5. With a 2-1 lead, Brent
Solich finished the game pitching 3.1 innings and
allowing only 1 hit, 0 runs. Beau Lasseigne
led the way going 3-4 with a homerun and a double.
Jeremy Whipple went 2-4 with a double, with 1 rbi.
Mace Hebert showed his speed on the bases with 2
stolen bases. Hebert stole second, with a wild throw
over the second basemans head, Hebert advanced to
second. Travis Whipple hit a sac fly to center field
scoring Hebert.

Win World Series, Second Title in Three
Years MILLINGTON, TENN. -- The LSU-Eunice
Bengals (52-12) won the 2008 NJCAA
Division II World Series by defeating
Lenoir CC (54-12) 17-5 at USA Stadium in
Millington, Tenn. The Bengals picked up
their third national championship in
three years.
Bandits Logan Lasseigne is currently
part of the 2008 Championship team, and
Bandits Mace Hebert was part of the 2006
Championship team.

and the LSUE Bengals are in the 2008
JUCO World Series Championship. The
Bengals are 3-0 in tournament play, and
face Lenoir in the championship game.
Lenoir will need to defeat the Bengals
twice to capture the crown. LSUE
defeated Lenoir 13-3 in the semi-final
game Wednesday. Lasseigne played with
the Bandits in 2007. Champ game is

Nick Boudreaux gets his first win on the mound. Acadiana High
School - (5/25/08) The Bayou Bandits continued
winning as they defeated the Red Sox 14-4 in 8
innings. Nick Boudreaux got the win on the
mound after coming in relief of Kevin Davidson who
pulled a hamstring. Nick pitched 4 innings,
not allowing any runs with 4 k's. The Bandits
bats were alive as the combined for 22 hits.

Fabacher - (5/21/08) With 2 outs in
the bottom of the 8th, scored tied 5-5, Mace Hebert
hit in Matt Bellard for the game winning rbi.
Bellard reached first base on a single. With 1 out,
Beau Lasseigne bunted Bellard over to second base
for the potential game winning run. Hebert then hit
in Bellard to take the lead. Whipple (3-1) got the
win on the mound pitching a complete game. Eloy
Cornejo (0-2) received the loss pitching 5 innings
of relief. The Bandits had a lead the whole game.
After 5 innings, the Brewers trailed 5-2 before a 3
run inning in the 7th to tie the game at 5.

Fabacher - The Bayou Bandits defeated former Bandit
Pitcher PJ Judice and the Tar Heels 3-1 in a game
that lasted under 2 hours. The Bandits scored
3 runs on Judice in the first 3 innings. The Tar
Heels lone run came in the bottom of the 9th with 2
outs. Jeremy Whipple pitched a complete game
allowing 1 run on 5 hits and striking out 12.

(1-3) Bandits got their first win behind a strong
offensive attack combining for 16 hits over the
(1-3) Red Sox. the Bandits started early scoring 3-0
after the first inning. It took the Bandits 3 more
innings before they would get back on the board,
before leading 10-0 after 5 innings. The Red Sox
wouldn't give up as they closed in to fall 12-4 to
the Bandits. Jeremy Whipple got his first win
on the mound going 5 innings, striking out 8.

4/13/08 Fabacher - The
Bayou Bandits are off to a rough start, losing their
3rd straight game to start the season off at 0-3.
Del Corp took advantage of 15 free bases, 11 walks
and 4 hit batters to defeat the Bandits 15-4.
Kevin Davidson led the way for the Bandits going 3-4
with a double and 1 rbi. Joey Caillier, DJ Courville
and Derek Melancon all added 2 hits each.
The Bandits look to get a win when they face the
2007 AABL-Wood Bat Champions, Red Sox. The Red Sox
are 1-2 on the season, coming off a 13-9 victory
over the Bears.

Bayou Bandits committed 8 errors in their 13-3 loss
to the Buffalo Wild Wings. In 13 runs, the
Wings had 0 earned. Jeremy Whipple took the
loss for the Bandits, going 5 innings, allowing 6
hits, 4 runs, 0 earned, 0 BB, while striking out 8.

Bandits Defeat Bears in Scrimmage 3/24/08 Fabacher - The
Bayou Bandits claimed a victory over the Bears in
7-2 in 6 innings before the time limit expired.
The Bandits used 5 pitchers in the rotation.
Jeremy Whipple got the start, going 2 innings,
allowing 0 runs while striking out 4. Kevin Davidson
came in next, pitching 1 inning, striking out 2,
allowing 0 hits and walking 1. Derek Melancon went 1
inning, allowing 2 hits amd 2 runs. Josh Collette
did all the work in his 1 inning on the mound,
facing 3 batters, striking out 2, while forcing a
ground ball to himself on the mound for the first
out. DJ Courville closed the game with 1 inning,
striking out 1 not allowing any runs.

Bandits Add Depth to Roster

Four new faces appear on the Bandits 2008 roster. Bandits added 2
lefties in
Kevin Davidson (LHP, 1B) and
Josh
Collette (LHP, OF).
DJ Courville (RHP,
UT) and Derek Melancon (RHP, OF), who played in the
AABL Wood bat league with the Bandits, add offensive
power and depth to the pitching staff.
Matt Bellard, played with the Bandits in the Baton Rouge
league in 2005, and the AABL Wood bat, will also
rejoin the Bandits
