All Star/Championship Game On Hold Indefinetly

  Due to Hurricane Katrina, the Baton Rouge MABL Championship and All-Star games have been put on hold indefinetly.   A decision will be made at a later date by the League President.

Wood Bat Team Shaping Up

 The Bayou Bandits wood bat team is gearing for their 3rd straight title.  The League is scheduled to start the 3rd or 4th week in September.  As of now, below are the list of players on the team.

Kyle Poirier

   Kelly Caillier and Kyle Poirier will represent the Bayou Bandits in the All-Star game to be held on August 21st, 6:00 at Alex Box Stadium, home of the LSU Tigers.  
   Caillier finished the year with a .333 batting average (12-36), 11 runs, 10 rbi's, 6 BB's, 6 K's, and 3 stolen bases.  Caillier finished the regular season hitting .353 before going 0-2 with 2 BB's in the first round of the playoffs.
   Poirer finished the season with a .328 batting average (19-58), 9 runs, 4 rbi's, 7 BB's, 9 K's, and 2 stolen bases.  Poirier finished the regular season with a .339 batting average before going 0-2 in the playoffs as well.  Poirier led the team in hits (19), at bats (58), and plate appearances (66).
   The All-Star Selection was based off of sportsmanship and attitude thru out the season, regular season stats, overall performance,  as well as helping out after games with picking up and raking the fields.

Chris Dumatrait


Jonathan Kohn

   The Bayou Bandits Team MVP's for the 2005 season goes to Chris Dumatrait (Offense) and Jonathan Kohn (Defense).  
   Chris Dumatrait finished off the season with a .354 batting average in 12 games, getting 17 hits in 48 at bats.  Dumatrait scored 13 runs while getting 4 rbi's and 4 doubles.   Dumatrait walked 4 times while only striking out 4 times in 54 plate appearances.  Dumatrait's highlighted games came vs. the Yankees (going 3-4, 3 runs, 1 rbi, 2b), vs. the Royals (3-4, 2 runs), vs. the Orioles (3-4, 2 runs, 1 rbi, 2B) and in the first round of the playoffs vs. the #1 seed Red Sox (4-4, 2 runs, 2 rbi's, 2 doubles).
    Kohn received the defensive MVP after finishing the season at 4-5.  He supports a 5.13 ERA, and struck out 137 batters out of the 400 he faced.  Kohn is first in the Baton Rouge MABL in strikeouts, and strikeouts per game with 15.29 per game (9 innings).  Opponents were hitting .272 vs. Kohn.  Kohn's highest strikeout total in 1 game was 18 k's in 8 innings vs. the Cubs.  Other high totals per game were 16 k's in 8 innings, 15 k's in 6 innings, 10 in 5 innings (twice).
