Bandits Blast Undefeated Astros 13-5


PJ Judice gets his first homerun of the season.

     The Bayou Bandits defeated the Astro's 13-5 Sunday at Christian Life Academy.  The win marks the second week in a row that the Bandits beat an undefeated team.  The Bandits jumped up early on former LSUE pitcher Jonathan Stelly (4-1) in the first inning scoring 4 runs.  Mace Hebert led off the game with a single to right field, followed by a single by Kyle Poirier.  Trase Guidry flied out to right field and moved Hebert over on the tag up. Poirier advanced to second on a stolen base, and PJ Judice reached first on base on balls.  Kelly Caillier hit a sacrafice fly to left field scoring Hebert.  Jonathan Kohn hit a double in the next at bat to bring it Poirier and Judice.  Joey Caillier hit a deep fly ball that hit a few feet below the 20 foot fence in left field for a standup double, bringing in Kohn.  
     The Astro's scored 2 runs in the 2nd inning to bring the game within 2.  Chip Chauvin led off with a 2b, followed by a walk by Josh Brown and Matt Sandifer.  Kohn struck out Kyle Mock in the next at bat.  Casey Richardson hit a ball to short stop Hebert to setup a possible double play to end the inning, but the throw by Poirier got away scoring two runs.   
     The Bandits scored 1 run in the 3rd inning off of Judice's solo homerun to lead off the inning.  The Bandits continued to rally as they scored 2 runs in the 4th, and 3 run's in the 7th and 3 more in the 8th inning.
     Jonathan Kohn (3-2) got his 3rd victory on the year going 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits, 1 earned, striking out 11 and allowing 4 walks.  Trase Guidry closed off the game pitching 2 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits.  The Bandits combined for 13 hits on the day.  The Bandits were led offensively by PJ Judice (2-3, HR, 2 RBI's, 3 runs) Kyle Poirier (3-6, 2B, Sb, 1 run, 1 rbi), Mace Hebert (2-5, 2 runs, SB, 2B) and Eddie LeBlanc (2-4).
     Next up for the Bandits are the 3-3-1 Cubs.  They will face off on Sunday, May 22 at 4:00 at Goldsby Stadium.
