Fall to Cubs in Late Innings |
The Bayou Bandits
(3-5) blew a 5-0 lead in the 7th inning as the Cubs (4-3)
scored 9 runs in the last 2 innings, all with 2 outs.
The Bandits scored 3 runs in the 4th inning, 1 in the 6th and
1 in the 7th. Down 5-0, the Cub rallied to tie the game
in the bottom of the 7th. The rally started with 2
runners on, 2 outs. Cubs hitter reached on a missed fly
ball, scoring 2 runs. The Cubs went on to score 3 more
runs that inning to tie the game up at 5-5. The Bandits
were shutdown the remainder of the game, and the Cubs kept the
momentum going in the bottom of the eighth inning to capture a
9-5 victory. Jonathan Kohn (3-3) struck out the
first 2 batters in the bottom of the eighth, walked the next 2
batters, then allowed 3 hits scoring 5 runs. Kohn
pitched a compete game, striking out 18 batters in 8
innings. He allowed 9 runs, 5 earned on 9 hits and
walking 5 batters. Kohn continues to lead the league in
strikeouts. Leading the way offensively for the Bandits
were Blaine Serio, going 2-3, 1 run, 1 rbi, 2 BB and Eddie
LeBlanc, going 2-4, 1 rbi. Kyle Poirier, Chris
Dumatrait, Jonathan Kohn, and Kelly Caillier each had 1 hit on
the day.
The Bandits are off memorial day weekend, and will return to
action on June 5 vs. the Dirtbags (2-5) at Christian
Life Academy, 12:45 p.m.
