Bandits Fall to The Royals in 8 innings
7/17/05

Kyle Poirier tries to slide around the tag at home plate.

The Bandits led the Royals thru the first 7 innings, but the Royals scored 3 runs in the 7th to tie the game at 10, then went on to score 3 more runs in the 8th inning to take the lead for good.  The Bandits took a 6-2 lead after 3 innings,  and a 9-5 lead after 5 innings.  The Royals took the lead in the top of the 7th, but the Bandits fought back to tie the game to send it into the 8th inning after the time limit was up.  Down by 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th, the Bandits rallied for 2 runs, and put the tying run on second base with 2 outs.  Corey Diaz sent a fly ball to left field, which looked like the left fielder lost the ball, but quickly recovered for the final out of the game.
The game featured 35 hits as the Royals pounded out 18 hits to the Bandits 17.  Leading the way for the Bandits was Kyle Poirier (3-4, rbi, 5-5 on base), Chris Dumatrait (3-4, 2 runs, 4-5 on base),  Jonathan Kohn (3-4, 2 runs, 1 rbi, 4-5 on base), Kelly Caillier (3-5, 1 run, 1 rbi, double, 4-5 on base) and Joey Caillier (2-3, double, 2 rbi's, 2 runs, 4-5 on base), and newcomer Chris Barrett (2-5, 2 runs, 1 rbi, 3B, 2B).
Trase Guidry received the loss after throwing 2 innings of relief.  Guidry allowed 3 runs on 6 hits and walked 1 batter.  Jonathan Kohn started the game, going 7 innings, allowing 10 runs on 12 hits, striking out 7 and walking 6.
The Bandits are currently tied for 9th place, and are in a 3 way fight for 8th place.
