Bandits Shutout the Dirtbags 10-0


Derek Gondron

The Bayou Bandits (4-5) shutout the Dirtbags (2-6) 10-0 in 7 innings before the stormy weather hit Baton Rouge.  Jonathan Kohn (4-3) pitched 6 innings of shutout baseball.  Kohn struck out 15 batters out of the 25 he faced, allowed 3 hits, and walking 3.  P.J. Judice made his debut on the mound after unstrapping the catcher's gear, closing the game in the 7th inning.  P.J. faced 3 batters, allowed 1 hit, and struck out one.  The Bayou Bandits turned a double play on a fly ball hit to right fielder Derek Gondron.  Gondron threw out the runner who failed to tag up at first base.  The Bayou Bandits went up 1-0 in the first inning off of a rbi single by Judice scoring Chris Dumatrait, who reached on an error.  The Bandits were shutdown in the 2nd inning, but scored 3 runs connectively in the next 3 innings.  In the third inning, Kohn reached on base with a walk, and Judice was hit by a pitch.  Kelly Caillier hit a single up the middle scoring Dumatrait (pitch ran for Kohn).  Gondron followed with a single of his own advancing P.J. and Caillier.  With bases loaded, Eddie LeBlanc flied out to left field, but not deep enough to tag up at third base.  Joey Caillier was hit in the next at bat, scoring a run.  Sean Foulks reached on error, scoring another run to get the final run of the inning.  In the bottom of the 4th inning, Kohn starting things off with a 1 out single.  P.J. pushed Dumtrait (running for Kohn again) over with a sacrifice hit.   Kelly Cailllier scored Dumatrait again with a single.  Derek Gondron reached base with a hit of his own, followed by a single by LeBlanc scoring Kelly Caillier.  Joey Caillier reached with a single, scoring Gondron to finish up the scoring for the inning.  In the 5th inning, the Bandits scored 3 more runs off of 1 hit.
     The Bandits were led offensively by Gondron (3-4, 2 rbi's, 1 run), Kelly Caillier (2-4, 3 runs, SB, 2 rbi's), Eddie LeBlanc (2-4, rbi), Jonathan Kohn (1-2, 2 runs) and Joey Caillier (1-2, 2 rbi's).
The Bandits will face the 4-4 defending Baton Rouge MABL champions on Sunday June 12, at Episcopal High School at 12:45.
