The Brewers
took a 4-1 lead after 4 innings with a grand slam by Johnny
Piper. The Bandits battled back scoring 1 run in the
sixth inning, and taking the lead 5-4 going into the bottom of
the 7th. The Brewer regained the lead scoring to runs,
to make it 6-5. The Bandits rallied scoring 2 runs in
the top of the 9th to take a 7-6 lead. The Brewers
spoiled the win for the Bandits scoring 2 runs of their own in
the bottom of the 9th, both runs were scored on an
error. Korey Saucier got the start on the mound for the
Bandits, pitching 7 innings, allowing 6 runs on 6 hits,
striking out 9 while walking 4 batters. Trase Guidry
received the loss pitching 1-1/3 innings, allowing 2 runs, 0
earned on 2 hits, striking out 1, hit 1 batter and walked
none. John Coker made his debut for the Bandits,
going 1-3 with an in-the-park homerun, 2 runs, 2 rbi's, and 3
stolen bases. Blaine Serio also made an impact going 2-4
with a triple and a double, scoring 2 runs. Other top hitters were
Chris Dumatrait (2-5) and Trase Guidry (2-5).
The Bandits remain in 8th place, the final
position for the playoffs, but the Royals and the Brewers are
right behind them. The Bandits are off this coming
weekend, July 10, and will return on July 17th for an 8th
place match up against the Royals (4-7). The Royals
defeated the Bandits 12-2 on April 17th.
