Bandits
Capture Opening Day Win
St. Francisville,
La.
The Bayou Bandits (1-0) rallied for 22 hits in a
19-9 victory over the Astros (0-1). Trase Guidry
(1-0) recieved the win going 6 innings, allowing 5
earned runs on 11 hits. The Bayou Bandits were led
offensively by Kelly Caillier (3-4, 3 2B's, 3 runs, 2
rbi's), Nick Boudreaux (3-4, 3 runs, 4 rbi's, 3B) and
Blake Domec (3-3, 2B, 2 rbi's).
The Astro's scored 3 runs in the top of the first inning
on 3 hits. The Bandits answered back with 7 runs in the
bottom of the first, and didn't look back. Chris
Dumuatrait got on base first for the Bandits on an
error. Kelly Caillier followed up with a double, sending
Dumatrait to third base. Matt Bellard walked, and
with bases loaded, Nick Boudreaux sent a line drive to
the gap for a base clearing triple. Ryan Judice
reached on Base on Balls, Blake Domec followed by with a
double, sending Judice to third base. Kyle Poirier
hit a single scoreing Judice and Domec. To finish
up the scoring in he first, Joey Caillier hit a single
scoring Poirier.
The Bandits maintained the lead to capture the win in 7
innings. The Astros pulled within 2 runs in the
second inning. But the Bandits scored 4 runs in
the 3rd, followed by 6 runs in the 4th inning.
After 4 innings of play, the Bandits had a 17-5 lead.
In the bottom of the 7th inning, Bellard led off with a
single. Bellard scored on a single by Boudreaux.
Judice struck out getting the first out, followed by a
single by Domec. Poirier flied out to center field, and
Kenneth Tauzin finished up the 10 run rule with a single
line drive up the middle scoring Boudreaux.
The Bandits face the Royals (0-1) next Sunday at 4:00 at West
Feliciana Sports Complex.
